Enhanced Visual Feedback Using Immersive VR Affects Decision Making Regarding Hand Use With a Simulated Impaired Limb

چکیده

The long-term effects of impairment have a negative impact on the quality life stroke patients in terms not using affected limb even after some recovery (i.e., learned non-use). Immersive virtual reality (IVR) has been introduced as new approach for treatment rehabilitation. We propose an IVR-based therapeutic to incorporate positive reinforcement components motor coordination opposed constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT). This study aimed investigate effect IVR-reinforced physical that incorporates coordination. To simulate upper function loss patients, wrist weight was attached dominant hand participant. Participants were asked choose their right or left reach toward randomly allocated target. image reinforced by visual feedback participants, is, participants perceived if moving greater degree than what occurring everyday life. found use simulated increased enhancement intervention, and importantly, maintained gradual withdrawal amplification. results suggest within IVR could induce decision making usage.

Impaired visual decision-making in individuals with amblyopia.

This study examined the effects of amblyopia on perceptual decision-making processes to determine the consequences of visual deprivation on the development of higher level cortical networks outside of the visual cortex. A variant of the Eriksen flanker task was used to measure response time and accuracy for decisions made in the presence of response-selection conflict. Performance of adults wit...

Online Decision Making in VR Application Environments

The aim of this paper is to understand the process by which consumers’ perception of online VR environments impact their purchase decision. Combining factor and process models, we propose a transaction framework suggestive of consumer decision-making in VR e-commerce environments. The framework is informed by theory to be validated by an experimental design to understand the antecedents and con...

Operating Virtual Panels with Hand Gestures in Immersive VR Games - Experiences with the Leap Motion Controller

Portable depth-sensing cameras allow users to control interfaces using hand gestures at a short range from the camera. These technologies are being combined with virtual reality (VR) headsets to produce immersive VR experiences that respond more naturally to user actions. In this research, we explore gesture-based interaction in immersive VR games by using the Unity game engine, the LeapMotion ...

Tactile VR for hand-eye coordination in simulated PTCA

Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) is a minimally invasive image-guided technique for treatment of coronary diseases. PTCA procedure requires physicians to have good skills of hand-eye coordination in performing the operation. Training of PTCA thus very much emphasizes skill building for hand-eye coordination. We have been developing virtual reality (VR) technology for medica...

Implementing Immersive Clustering with VR Juggler

The last advances in commodity hardware have allowed users of immersive visualization to create high-performance systems using a set of interconnected computers. These systems, called cluster computers, allow to employ high-quality graphics cards, high-speed processors and significant amounts of memory for much lower costs than would be possible with high-end, shared memory computers traditiona...
